What are e-Statements?

An e-Statement looks exactly like the paper statement a member receives in the mail.  However, a member accesses an electronic copy of his or her account’s activities via our secured website, e-Credit Union.  This link at www.denvercommunity.coop has copies of past statements, a record of recent transactions, and allows members the ability to make transactions online.

Why use e-Statements?

There are a variety of reasons to choose e-Statements instead of paper statements. 

1. e-Statements are safer since a majority of identity theft occurs from having personal information stolen from paper documentation, not from online interactions.
2. e-Statements help preserve the environment by reducing paper usage and postal fuel costs.   
3. e-Statements allow a member to view his or her past statements easily and quickly, since they are automatically organized and archived on e-Credit Union with 24 hour access.

Do e-Statements put me at a higher risk of identity theft?

NO.  According to the 2006 Survey of Identity Theft Report from the Federal Trade Commission, only 2% of identity theft is known to occur because of an online transaction.  However, 16% of identity theft victims knew the person who stole their information on a personal level. 

Are e-Statements free?

YES.  In fact, members with e-Statements and Direct Deposit also receive Bill Payer, an online bill paying system, for FREE!  This saves the member $2.95/month plus the cost of gas, postage, and time each month.

Are e-Statements delivered safely?

YES.  The e-Statements are never delivered to an un-protected e-mail account.  A message will be sent notifying a member that his or her e-Statement is ready to be viewed.  Then, a member accesses his or her e-Statement by using the secure website, e-Credit Union area of our website.

What if I want a paper copy of my statements for my records?

If a member wants a paper copy, he or she can print it out in the comfort of his or her own home.

How do I sign up for e-Statements?

Signing up for e-Statements is easy.  Sign up with any credit union staff member, over the phone by calling 303-573-1170, or by clicking this symbol    on e-Credit Union.
